The Department of Defense has completed an $17.8 million grant to Virginia Commonwealth University’s Convergence Lab Initiative (CLI), supporting advanced research in quantum devices, AI, photonics, and more. CLI partners with industry and other universities to develop cutting-edge technologies with both defense and commercial applications, including thermal imaging, beyond 5G communication, and edge computing. The initiative also offers hands-on training programs for students, bridging academic learning with industry needs. This collaboration aims to drive innovation, enhance national security, and create economic growth through technology breakthroughs.
