Mission

To serve as an engine for research, workforce development, and innovation at the intersection between cybersecurity, autonomous systems, and intelligence.

Commonwealth Cyber Initiative (CCI) is a commonwealth-wide ecosystem of innovation in cybersecurity and cyber-physical systems (CPS) security. It is defined by four regional Nodes covering the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Our CCI Central Virginia Node (CVN), led by Virginia Commonwealth University, propels our vision to make central Virginia a region that aligns the academic community, private sector and government to create new economic benefits.

CVN’s Medical Device Security, OpenCyberCity, and NextG testbeds are hubs of current cybersecurity learning. It’s also where the majority of our annual 2.5 million USD of funded research, workforce development, and commercial innovation projects take place.
